Stereotype

2. Stereotyping is exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system, they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. However, it is also something that most people find difficult to avoid from doing. What do you think?

Stereotyping is defined as an oversimplified usually a perspective, attitude people hold towards those other people or anything. Various categories of stereotyping are age, sex, race, sexual orientation, religions, and physical ability. The most stereotypes are sex and race.

From my opinion, stereotype is something that we cannot avoid because it is already in our daily life and the generation back then has been using it and that is why the next negation does it too. It is a cycle where it cannot stop. It is also because most people tend to make assumptions before knowing the truth it is like the culture to make a guess and have assumptions towards it. This happens when we are curious about something then we tend to have stereotype thinking over it. For instance, where people usually though if a car on the road is driving slowly, people usually have stereotype it is a woman driver as they have a thinking that women cannot drive well.

In addition, people always stereotype if a younger woman get married with an older man that they are married for wealth. Last but not least, those stereotype because people like to judge without knowing the actual reason. It is not good to judge people by appearance and their attitude as it does not represent them.

Last but not least, we as human need to avoid doing this stereotype as it will lead bad habits to ourselves. Many instances, people who are always does stereotype is usually proven wrong. Because, everyone did not have the same thinking like us, maybe if someone from a different race than yours, and yet you have stereotype on their race, you must have stereotype of it to everyone who is in the race? No, you cannot do that. Different peoples, different behaviour. Do not simply judge without asking as it will lead to misunderstanding. Who are we to judge people? Therefore, we cannot have bad stereotype to everyone, as they know themselves and they know what they are doing.

Critical Literacy?

1 . You heard comments and maybe grievances from your seniors about Critical Literacy, but what is/ are your expectation (s) or hope for this subject as you are just started.

First of all, hello everyone!

As I have finished my semester three in KPMIM, all the seniors are like giving warning and advice that we need to stay stronger as what we going to face in semester four is tougher subject that we need to face. They are like saying that Critical Literacy might make us become more difficult thinker and we need to always think out of the box to make our arguments and points to stand out.

As soon I started the new semester, the first class that I had is Critical Literacy subject as the lecture finish I was like what did just learnt just now? I expected that this subject will ask to be more creative thinker but it is deeper than that. Where we need to be more precise on what are we going to say and give good and out of the box point.

Furthermore, I expected that the quiz and the test are going to be something like easier and not too hard. I am afraid if I cannot answer it well. In addition, I had already seen the senior’s assignment works, wow that is just unexpected as we need to write a lot and it is more than 5 thousand words essay. This is unbelievable! Hopefully I can do it on time and perfectly.

Last but not least, I hope I can survive this semester and I can adapt well with this tougher subject and hopefully I can manage and successfully learn Critical Literacy subject and obtain A for this subject. Thus, I also hope that I will be a good and creative thinker after learning Critical Literacy.
